Experiencing the Old-Town Charm of the East

Even though it’s small by many people’s standards, Washington, Pennsylvania is bustling
with great opportunities to experience important parts of America’s history. If you’re
looking for a great location for a family vacation, look no further -- Washington is the place
for you. If you have kids, Washington can be a fantastic vacation spot, because you can
escape some of the fast-pace and difficult logistics of a place swarming with tourists or a big
city. Your kids will also get a chance to experience some of the history in their home
country.

The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum

Experience the history of this valuable form of transportation in America’s history. On a
three-mile trolley tour through the city, you’ll have an opportunity to view the towns
beautiful, historic buildings. This museum also offers seasonal attractions, including a
Pumpkin trolley and pumpkin patch during autumn. In August, you can park at the Trolley
Museum and ride the trolley to the county fair.

The LeMoyne House

Francis Julius LeMoyne was a physician who, in the 1850’s, risked his home and practice to
do what he knew was morally right. He opened his home and properties to the
Underground Railroad and aided in the freedom of hundreds of African American slaves
during this fascinating time of U.S. history. His father and five sisters supported and
promoted education for women and helped found the Washington Female Seminary. The
house is a beautiful, stately stone house. Entering it is like stepping back in time. It was
declared a U.S. historical landmark in 1997 and features period furnishings. Be sure to make
an appointment for your tour.

Off the Wall Theatre

Some of the most consistently well produced plays and musicals in all of southwestern
Pennsylvania can be found by attending a show produced by Off the Wall Productions.
Recently, they have offered their services and produced many of the plays selected from
the prestigious Pittsburgh New Works Festival. The theatre company has won high praise
from critics and audiences alike.

Visit Local Shops and Restaurants

Washington’s buildings are full of history and charm. Be sure to visit the local antique
stores, gift shops, and restaurants to get a true taste of the area. Visit the Bovine Winery,
Mr. Gyro’s, or Osso’s Original Pizza for some local cuisine. Take some time to stretch your
legs and walk through the city. Be sure to talk to the locals to hear about everyday life in this
historic town. Who knows, you might just decide to move there.

About the Author:

Sage enjoyed a comfortable stay at the Cambria Suites in Washington Pennsylvania while
researching life in the historic East.

Thanks Sage for sharing some neat experiences to encounter in Pennsylvania.   I do hope to travel there again since my one road trip during college was not enough to see all this fun and entertaining activities.  :)   Pennsylvania is a great place to travel to teach children some great history.  Hope you all consider these places if you are planning a trip there anytime soon.

Knot Genie Review and Giveaway

If you have a little girl and have not heard of the Knot Genie then you need to watch the following video:   "The Knot Genie™ and Teeny Genie™ Detangling Brushes were created for every mom that has endured the foot stomping and screaming matches that come with brushing their child's hair. With the Knot Genie, even the curliest, most knotted up hair practically slips through the unique bristle configuration – gently and painlessly. Try the Knot Genie on your kids (or on yourself) – you'll be amazed by the ease of brushing, as well as how it virtually stops breakage and split ends. You've wished for hair brushing standoffs to end. Wish granted." My Review:  Thanks to the Knot Genie for sending me the product to conduct my review.  I was not paid for this review and all opinions expressed are 100% mine.  I know I have grown so tired of my daughter coming to tears every morning when we did her hair. I was becoming to think she was the most

Dry Idea: Deodorant Review and Giveaway

I know most of you know I was at kids camp last week and I think I mentioned the humidity and heat that we had that week!  I was daring as I only brought my new Dry Idea  deodorant  that I had never used prior.  I had no idea if it was going to keep me from smelling like B.O or if I was going to have sweaty pits. So how did the Dry Idea hold up to the hot and humid days at kids camp???  Arms raised high during worship in the morning and in the evening!  :)  I was dry and I did not stink!  :) WOOT WOOT!  I had the unscented brand and I usually do prefer a pretty scent but it worked and they do have scents which include powder fresh and cotton dry that I might try in the future.  :) The Dry Idea Roll-On is 24 hour protection, fast drying MicroCotton Formula, hypo allergenic, and contains Vitamin E.  :) Don't like roll on's??  They do offer Clear Gel and an Invisible Solid.  :) Dry Idea provided a free sample of their Advanced Dry roll-On so I could review them.  However,
