Cone-ing to Fight Leukemia! **Video Included**

Why on Earth would I have ice cream smashed on my forehead?  I had a challenge with my daughter to raise money for Light the Night 2013.  We each needed to raise $100 in one week and we successfully completed the challenge thanks to awesome friends and family.   I have the video below and I hope it makes you giggle.  It sure would be a blessing if you were able to donate a little to help fight cancer.  :)  Just follow this link to donate:  http://pages.lightthenight.org/mn/TwinCiti13/AFlanigan FIND A CURE FOR CANCER!!!

Light the Night Fundraising Update

Fundraising is always a daunting hard task.  I am not a fan of asking people for money since so many people do with school fundraising, church fundraising, and every foundation out there fighting many diseases it makes it hard to be bold and ask for money.  I am happy to report that I have received my first donation.  Last night a family I know donated the first donation!  WOOT!  It really got me excited and pumped to start asking more.  :)  I also have received a business donation from Mohawk Rugs .  They donated 4 rugs to be auction or sold off.  :)  I am thankful and hoping other companies will offer gifts and gift cards to auction off to help raise funds.   Look how beautiful the rugs are:  I wrap up this post by yes, asking you if you will consider making a donation.  :)  Every small to large donation makes me happy and helps us get a step closer...

Light the Night 2013 Campaign

CANCER CURED... I bet we all can agree that when a cure for Cancer is found there will be lots of celebrations world wide!  I remember in high school my teacher said in only a couple years you will know someone who has or had cancer, sadly I never thought it would be my mother.  Whats worse is being able to count more and more people I know who have battled this disease!  If you have followed my blog you have seen a post here or there especially in the month of October hearing about the loss of my mother due to her battle with leukemia.   Ten years may have passed since her going home to Jesus party but the heart ache still is present.  This year my family is helping to make a difference.  We have formed team Bette Boop, thanks to my sister who started this team last year!  I am so proud of her efforts last year that it made me so eager to jump on board the team and get raising funds for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. ...

9 years

Let me just say this and get it out of the way, CANCER SUCKS !  As I write this I can picture all the events leading up to this day 9 years ago and the agonizing days following.    My mother was diagnosed with ALL  (leukemia) in March of 2002.  It was my senior year of high school and I recall my mom getting sick and sick enough where she called me to come home from school to take her to the clinic which was just a block away, but she said she could not drive.  At first  they thought it was Hepatitis but then I believe it was March 8th when we finally got the diagnosis.  I know the next day I went to school and everyone was acting normal but I felt like nothing was normal, I secluded away from my friends and went to the best teacher ever and cried on her shoulder for a few minutes.  Mrs. Wakeen... you were an awesome teacher that day...you were anyways but you went above and beyond and I was so blessed!   My parents let no t...

Do you think??

Do you think that one day we will find a cure for cancer?  Diabetes?  Alzheimer's?  ETC ETC? If you think so, which cure will come first? I pick Cancer to be cured... more detailed I pray that Acute Lymphocitic Leukemia will be cured.  My mom passed away from it in October of 2002.  I really miss her and have been thinking about her a lot.  I keep thinking about what she would say to me after having baby boy.  Would she give him a nickname? What would she have said to me? So who do you know that has/had any of these crummy diseases?
