DIY-Bubble Snakes

This is going to be a favorite outside activity for my kids.  My daughter had so much fun blowing the bubbles while my 16 month old son had fun playing with the bubbles.   Here is what you will need: a plastic bottle dish soap water Food coloring (optional)  old sock Tape or rubber band How to make: 1. Cut bottom of plastic bottle 2. place sock over opening you cut 3. tape sock onto bottle  4. mix soap and water in a dish  5. dip sock in soapy water and blow 6. You can add some color by putting a couple drops right on the sock.  (can get messy) We had purchased that juice for kids (Hog Juice or something) that has a sports bottle top.  It was shorter and the top has the cap that opens and closes and I think made it easier for a small mouth to blow but safer so they are less likely to swallow soapy water.  My 16 month old did try but he is a bit to young to understand blowing out and did end up sucking in and resulted in a mouthful of soapy wa...

Messy Water Balloon's

We all know how much fun our kids can have with a water balloon fight...oh OK us adults too!  :)  Right?  :) Admit it!!   Well, how about messy water balloons?   I used cornstarch, water, and food coloring to create a colorful experience with water balloons for my kids.  First mix water and cornstarch together.  Make sure you do not create oobleck, when it becomes a liquid and a solid mixture.  Once you get the consistency you want put the mixture in separate bowls so you can make different colors. I added a lot of food coloring in so the colors would be bright.  Then I used a turkey baster adding the color mixture to the balloon.  After that I still added more water to the balloon so they would pop easier.  :)  The reason we added cornstarch is to ensure the food coloring does not stain the sidewalks.  :)  Then it becomes more chalk like when it dries.  Clean up is super...

Oh March... I heart your weather this year! :)

I am not sure where you live or how your weather has been but this week has been awesome.  We have broken a few records on heat!  Yesterday we were in the sun as much as possible. We painted rocks, played t-ball, drew with chalk, and blew some bubbles.  Oh how we are one excited family for summer.  :)  I hope that all spring we have this warmth and sun!  :)

Ready, Aim, Shoot- Water Gun Fun

We had plans to go down down to the free fountains but when we got down there they were not on and not turning on.  I still have to find out when they are on.  We had a great time there a few weeks ago on a sporadic moment.  :)  So I had to think quick since I had a little girl who was sad.  So we had a super fun water gun fight!  :)  Getting wet is our theme lately with the hot temps.  I was very happy a couple days prior I had purchased these 2 water guns at "Dollar Tree."   Yep, she got a lot more wet them me.  LOL, I must have better aim!  ;) I had fun trying to hide by a tree or even the big electrical boxes.  :)  We even did a "Western Draw" where we lined up back to back and took 3 big steps and then turned around and shot at each other.  Daddy was sweet and took pictures for us but I think I will have to buy another squirt gun for him because I am pretty sure there will be a next time.  :)...

Fizzy Sidewalk Chalk! Chalk idea #8

So I got this idea from Quirkymomma .  There are a lot of great ideas on her site so go check it out!  :)  Here is what you need to do Fizzing Sidewalk Chalk: A container of baking soda 1/2 cup of cornstarch Warm (almost hot) Water Food coloring Vinegar I went to my dollar store to pick up the cornstarch, baking soda, and a spray bottle and I already had food coloring.  :)  So this made for a very affordable afternoon of fun.   So in my container I mixed the baking soda, cornstarch and water and food coloring and stirred.  I was unsure of how the consistency was suppose to turn out and that was the difficulty I had.  I added a bit more water.  I think the stuff kinda was similar to oobleck which makes me want to make some of that soon too, but that made it difficult to really make any neat design with it.  After you get the stuff mixed then you put it out on the sidewalk and then use a spray bottle of vinegar to...
