Tips for Hiring a Professional Mover

Whether you are moving across the country or just down the street, hiring a mover to help is important.  If you have never hired a mover before, then there are some things you are going to need to know.  Below we will go over some tips that will help you choose the right company for your next big move. Search for a Professional Mover To find the best moving companies in your area, start by asking your friends and family.  Many have probably moved in the past and have a company they would recommend.  If no one you know has experience with movers, you should turn to the internet for help.  Search for moving companies by name and you will likely find their reviews.  Make sure to choose a company that has many different positive reviews and avoid those with a bad online reputation. If you have no luck online, you can always check with your local chamber of commerce and they should be able to provide you with a list of a few qualified moving companies in ...

Making Friends After A Big Move

Well, it has been 10 months since we moved out of Wisconsin into Iowa!   10 months that has gone extremely fast!   My kids have both made some new friends and my daughter loves her new school.    Moving can be frightening for kids so here are some easy to do steps: 1. Make sure you only speak about the move with excitement and keep it positive!  (hopefully this is naturally the case) 2.  Tell them as soon as you know so they have time to adjust to the idea.  3.  Let them be involved with the entire process-looking for a place to live- timeline for move- packing up!    4. Plan a time/date/party for your kids to say good bye to friends.   Exchange information to stay in touch.  5. Once you arrive have fun exploring your new area!   Take one day a week to go and find a new adventure- be a tourist in your new hometown and surrounding areas.   6.  Visit and tour the school as soon a...

Saying Goodbye is Hard

I sure have enjoyed this year being able to watch a boy my sons age.  It is so hard to say good bye when you can see a strong bond and true friendship in these two boys.   I feel the same way for my daughter.  I am thankful she is excited for the move but she has some great girl friends at the young age of 5.   I think it might be me who is having a harder time with this then my children. I am thankful they are young and I know they will make some new friends quickly.  It might be such a challenge for me because I grew up in the exact same house my entire life unlike my husband who moved around all the time.  Only two more weeks of Wisconsin and then its Iowa time.  Please continue to pray for our transition as you can tell it is sad and hard but exciting and thrilling all at the same time.

Following God's Leading

Over the last few months God has opened the door for my family to step out of youth ministry and step into a senior pastor position.  In February we headed down to Iowa to check out the church and then we were back again at the beginning of April.  The decision is not an easy one to make.  Our family has truly been blessed  being here is the norther part of Wisconsin the last 4 years.  We have a great church, great friends, nice house things here are comfortable and fun but when God calls you somewhere you go even when it might not make sense or be easy- step out in FAITH- Put my trust in HIM!  One hard aspect is obviously saying good-bye to many great friends we have made here.  The other part is selling our house we just bought a year ago.  I love our house here but I know the plans that God has for my family are calling us to move.   Last night I needed to share my heart regarding us leaving at church.  It o...

Welcome to the Neighborhood

WELCOME to the Neighborhood!   What a blessing it was for one of our new neighbors to stop by with a little welcome basket.  I have moved a few times now and it seems the "friendly neighbor welcome" is something from the past or only seen in movies.  It was a much needed break to talk for a few minutes and eat some cake (not shown in picture)  they also brought. Have you ever gotten a welcome from a new neighbor when you move?   Have you ever given a gift to a new neighbor?   I personally cant recall a time that I have gone to a new neighbor to introduce  myself but I do remember inviting over a new neighbor for dinner and to this day we are great friends!  I really want to work on making sure to take a few minutes to be kind, introduce myself and my family, and bless them with a meal or plant or anything really.     We actually had just met them a few weeks ago as they had just started coming to our church and then what d...
