3-D Rainbow Craft

I love the look of these 3-D rainbows which are perfect for St. Patrick's Day or talking about Noah and the flood.    I pre-cut the stripes of paper or my little guy but older kids can work on cutting.  I also helped my kids with the fold at each end but they enjoyed gluing them on their paper.   This activity is easy to adapt to the age level needed!  Another fun touch is add some cotton balls for clouds, that added touch really completed the project.  My daughter did not care about the saying ROY G BIV, she did her rainbow the way she wanted and my toddler he did not put them in a straight line which created a very neat effect, his looks super cool!   These projects will make great center pieces for the next week!  :)

Chalk Color Game Sidewalk Chalk #6

The Color Game Thanks again to Pintrest where I found this idea from Toddler Approved .  We love fun ideas for outside and chalk!   My daughter never has played "Simon" so I called our game the Color game.  We played it similar to  "Simon" but my daughter is only 4 so trying to get long sequences was not the goal.  I also used 8 different colors so my goal was to sequence the 8 colors.  I would call out a color and she would jump on it then back in the middle.  Next I would say the same color and add one more and she would jump from one color to another and then back to the middle where I would add another color.  We would do that similar to "Simon" but we did not repeat a color so we would use all 8 colors  once.  She did a fantastic job of remembering where to go and each new color when it was added.   :)  This game was played several times for at least 45 minutes!  :) Yay!  My 16 month old a...

Practicing numbers with Hopscotch

It was another hot and humid day.  Majority of the day was spent being lazy and staying indoors but when the sun started to set it cooled down a bit and we headed out on the patio to enjoy some fresh air.  My hubby has the whole week off so today started our "staycation."   We started the "staycation" with some good ole chalky fun! First I made a hopscotch for my daughter and we had a lot of fun reviewing numbers and then hoping on one leg then both legs.  I was reinforcing which leg was her right and her left.  Lots of good little lessons were added to our outside fun today. Then daddy's artsy side kicked in and he drew a nice picture. Then Selah and I drew a butterfly together.  :)

Learning patterns, shapes, colors

I have been starting to do more preschool activities with my darling, Selah.  Today she was asking me, "mommy can we do preschool, please, please, please."   It was super adorable and of course I found something for her to do. I thought we would work on patterns.  I knew she had been doing very well with drawing circles and she knows all her colors so I thought we could to patterns with different colored circles.  It took her a little time to catch on to the "pattern" but then the light bulb went off.  :) Here is some of her work: How are you teaching patterns, colors, or shapes?
