Fun with Pipe Cleaners

A great idea for toddlers!   I think my son sat in one spot for at least 30 minutes with only a strainer and pipe cleaners.  :)  At 17 months it took a lot of concentration to get the pipe cleaner in one of the holes of the strainer but he DID it!  :)  I did have to do hand over hand a couple times but then he figured it out.   This activity is also an awesome fine motor skill.  We worked on the pincer grasp and holding the pipe cleaner at the end so it would be easier to put in the hole of the strainer.   He also had a ton of fun simply waving the pipe cleaners.  He also seemed to really enjoy pulling the pipe cleaners out of the strainer.   Shortly after Titus was done his sister came home from school and was very excited to play with them too.  Then it became a game of Selah putting the pipe cleaners in the strainer and Titus pulling them out.

Painting with anything and everything

We felt like painting so we got creative.  We walked around the house and outside searching for things we could "paint" with.   So here is the set up: long paper rolled out paint on a tray rock squishy ball leaf straw spoon sponges guitar pick paper First up was the squishy ball (her favorite). Next a golf ball and I loved the dotted effect it gave.   She loves getting messy! Next, was painting with a leaf and she thought this was hard but after I showed her that less paint was better she liked it.   Oh, the fun you can have with a straw.  She struggled blowing hard enough but she thought it was so funny cause she got paint all over her lips.   Laughing because I told her she had blue lips.    Getting ready to help clean up the mess.  Too late she is the mess!  She was due for a bath anyways and it was washable paint so it all came off in the wash.  I saved the paper again and I think I am going to wrap her birthday pre...

Beating the Heat with Ice Cube Painting

I LOVE LOVE LOVE being a mom!  I love that my daughter is at a age where she wants to do arts n crafts and is a little sponge learning and trying new things.   With the heat of the week I wanted another activity that would help keep us cool.  Ice cube painting was a great idea for 90 degree days with lots of humidity.   Days like these are when you need the best mosquito repellent for kids available, especially when playing outside.   Not only was this fun but very easy to make.  All I did was put water in my ice cube tray and then added food coloring and then put in the freezer.  SUPER FUN AND EXTREMELY EASY!   Selah's face she makes when she is concentrating.   Her first drawing on paper.    This is an old dish towel that I did not use anymore.   You could set the ice cube in one spot and let it melt for a little bit and then move it.  It created a very neat tye-dye look.  :)  I LOVED IT!  Sela...

Happy Valentines Day

My daughter picked out her Valentines and we filled them out yesterday and this morning.  She goes to Awana on Thursdays so she really wanted to give Valentines to her classmates. :) So the rest of the day I will be hearing "is it time to go to Awana yet?" I also saw a cute idea at Money Saving Mom  the other day so we had to try it ourselves.  After nap time yesterday my daughter and I made play-dough.  It was a lot of fun and today we packaged them up for her Awana classmates.  I think they turned out really well.  I was also very excited about the verse the kids are memorizing this week Jeremiah 31:3 " I have loved you with and everlasting love."  It worked perfect for Valentines Day.   Here are some pictures of our Valentines: A couple weeks ago we also did some painting of hearts.  Here are the pictures of them: This is shaving cream with a little paint.  My 3 year old had a lot of fun.
