Book Review and Giveaway: Goodnight Ark by Laura Sassi Illustrated by Jane Chapman

My Review: Laura Sassi has created a humorous story that made me giggle throughout!   This story is not your typical Noah and Ark story because it is fictional but really made me curious as to what it was like on the Ark.   So there was a storm and the animals were scared so they snuck into Noah's bed until... I can't spoil the big laugh so you will have to read the book.  On top of the wonderful story there was some rhyming that made it fun to read.   My kids and I also love the artwork that Jane Chapman has created.   The pictures are bright and colorful and draws you in and helped capture the humor in it.   I think this is a great story to have fun and discuss on top of the true story of Noah and the Ark.  :)  a Rafflecopter giveaway

Book Review: Defending the Line: The David Luiz Story

Were you loving every nail biting moment of the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament? If so, check out  Defending the Line: The David Luiz Story   to read all about the life, faith, and soccer career of our favorite World Cup player!  David Luiz is an inspiration on and off the soccer field! About the Book: 'Everything in life belongs to God. Our purpose has already been mapped out.' ---David Luiz One of the rising stars in international soccer, David Luiz has been impressing crowds since he was a boy. But it is his faith, not his fame, that drives him to greater success and keeps him “defending the goal.” David made his debut in professional soccer as a left fullback when he was just 19. He was then picked up by Portugal’s Benfica team and named player of the year for the 2009-2010 season. Church Projects- Paper Floor

One of the many projects we have done this summer around the church is tearing out all the old icky carpet in the basement and putting down a very affordable and nice looking paper floor.   First, they had to scrape the floor and get all the carpet and glue off as best as they could.   After the floor has been clean you get the paper prepared.   We bought a big roll of paper from Home Depot.   We tore it in pieces and wrinkled it up.  then you use Elmer's glue, yes Elmer's Glue!   Mix the glue with some water and place the paper in the glue.  Then apply the gluey paper to the floor and spread it out evenly and flat.   Once the glue is dry then it is time to apply layers of polyurethane which will protect it.  The floor was much more affordable and it looks fantastic!  :) Here it is with a few layers of Polyurethane.

The Garden is blooming

I am really starting to love gardening!   I can't wait for a bigger one next year!   This was my second cucumber to eat and I see many blooms and many baby cucumbers growing.  :)  I also have some great Kale getting big!  :)  YUM!  Earlier this summer I found a ton of old white vases from several years ago when they were the in thing.   So I thought I would use these if I could add some color.  A few minutes later after some fun with spray paint I know have 9 in my house with my garden flowers in them.   :)   I LOVE THEM!  Look how pretty they are... these roses I did not grow my husband gave them to me.  The window ledge holds 6 of my vases and makes it look so welcoming and fun in my kitchen.

Fearless Speaking by Gary Genard- Book Review

BEAT YOUR ANXIETY- BUILD YOUR CONFIDENCE- CHANGE YOUR LIFE Whether you are in school and have to give a presentation or you have chosen a career where you often have to speak in front of people (teacher, pastor... kinda like me)  then you may be familiar with the nervous stomach or jitters. I will admit that I get nervous but amazingly when I spoke at a women's conference and my church God truly took over and my nerves were gone... that is truly the way to go but if you are not preaching then maybe this book can help you.  The book, Fearless Speaking , by Gary Genard has great tips and even encourages you with simple and effective exercise to practice.    Chapters include: 1. Understanding your fear of public speaking 2. Changing your negative thinking 3. Breathing techniques for relaxation and control 4. Body language to look and feel more confident 5. Staying focused, mindful, and on message- (a tough one for me) 6. How to connect wi...

2014 Ice Cream Tour # 8-

I have fallen behind on the Ice Cream Tour since we ate this in July... OOPS!    Happy Joe's has several locations in my area of Iowa and Illinois and their ice cream is great even though Happy Joe's is known as a pizza place.   My husband loves the monster cookie ice cream which is fantastic but my kids love the traditional mint chocolate chip.   Last summer Happy Joe's had a flavor a month that was only .99 cents for a cone!  It is a great place that is walking distance from my house so I have to practice self control.  :)
