Mess and Moxie

Book Description

New York Times bestselling author Jen Hatmaker, with playful hilarity, shameless honesty, and refreshing insight, assures readers they have all the pluck they need for vibrant, courageous, grace-filled lives.
Jen Hatmaker believes backbone is the birthright of every woman. Women have been demonstrating resiliency and resolve since forever. They have incredibly strong shoulders to bear loss, hope, grief, and vision. She laughs at the days to come is how the ancient wisdom writings put it.
But somehow women have gotten the message that pain and failure mean they must be doing things wrong, that they messed up the rules or tricks for a seamless life. As it turns out, every last woman faces confusion and loss, missteps and catastrophic malfunctions, no matter how much she is doing “right.” Struggle doesn’t mean they’re weak; it means they’re alive.
Jen Hatmaker, beloved author, Big Sister Emeritus, and Chief BFF, offers another round of hilarious tales, frank honesty, and hope for the woman who has forgotten her moxie. Whether discussing the grapple with change (“Everyone, be into this thing I’m into! Except when I’m not. Then everyone be cool.”) or the time she drove to the wrong city for a fourth-grade field trip (“Why are we in San Antonio?”), Jen parlays her own triumphs and tragedies into a sigh of relief for all normal, fierce women everywhere who, like her, sometimes hide in the car eating crackers but also want to get back up and get back out, to live undaunted “in the moment” no matter what the moments hold.
My Review:
I was excited to read a Jen Hatmaker book.  I have been following her on Instagram for some time and since I am done with classes I have more time for pleasure reading.  It doesn't feel like much spare time but I am really trying to set aside more reading time for me.
Thank-you Book Look program for sending me this book for free in exchange for an honest review.  I was not paid for this review and all opinions expressed are 100% mine.
So the book reads fairly quickly!  It is very raw and real which makes it easy for me to relate to the author and her stories.  It is reassuring that having it together is never a goal because we need our savior for a reason! Jen makes you laugh and nod your head as she writes with a real passion.  Not only does Jen write from a real perspective but as a mother makes me feel encouraged and challenged to do better in every area of life.

I think as a mother I could relate to this book more!  Jen has great experiences that she shares which many people would keep private but with her boldness to share it keeps the reader going and helping the reader identify with the reality of needing Jesus more and more!

I would recommend this book to woman/mothers!  Get ready to laugh... a few tears... and feel encouraged!

Common Mistakes Made When Writing a Will

Writing a will should, by all means, be a simple thing. You want to make sure that your assets are being left to your loved ones and that your final wishes are being fulfilled. Usually, they are rather straightforward, but that doesn’t mean that they are entirely foolproof. Here, we’re going to look at some common issues that can lead to disputes or delays in carrying out your will. Image - CC0 License Not Having It Witnessed Correctly One of the most common mistakes when writing a will is not having it witnessed correctly. Wills generally require the signatures of at least two witnesses who are not beneficiaries or spouses of beneficiaries. If the will is not witnessed in accordance with legal requirements, it may be declared invalid, meaning your estate would be distributed according to intestacy laws, which may not align with your wishes. It’s important to follow the witnessing procedures exactly as outlined in your jurisdiction to ensure the will is legally enforceable. Chan...

A big thank you to Andy who sent me some amazing cookies to try to conduct my review.  :)  All opinions expressed are 100 % mine and I was not paid for this review.   About Sweet Andy's Cookies: The “Thank You” Cookie In 2009, Andrew (Sweet Andy) found himself in a position like so many others at that time in our past; the economy was quickly spiraling downward and he had left his job in the financial services industry. Although Andy had an MBA in Banking and Finance and had even written a book entitled, “A Guide to Taking Control of Your Investments”, he found himself to be disenchanted with the financial industry and left to pursue “other work.”  The “other work” that Andrew pursued was with the Church and did not provide financial support for the family.  During this time Andy and his wife, Lissa, struggled to find other forms of income. They did what they could for themselves and their five children but often it was not enough. But there were...
