How To Strengthen Your Parent-Child Relationship

As a parent, your life can be pretty eventful with a series of activities you have to accomplish by the end of every day. Although you may be present in your child’s life, ensuring that they are well taken care of and are happy and healthy, there may be the chance that you do not take enough time to bond with them. Bonding with your child helps them navigate through life, boosts their confidence, keeps them safe, and strengthens the parent-child relationship between you and them. So, how can you establish a bond with your child? Here are a few ways to consider.

  1. Be affectionate towards them

Physical affection is crucial for neurobiological development and to build a positive and healthy emotional wellbeing. Therefore, with your children, it is essential to bless their little hearts with outward affection. Give them hugs and kisses whenever you can, and be open to receiving the same from them too. Also, greet them warmly with expressions, smile often around them, and encourage honest interactions. By doing this, you make them feel safe and loved. You should tell them how much you love them regularly. Simply expressing your love for them, regardless of what they may or may not have done, is an excellent way of reminding them of your unconditional love for them. This, in turn, strengthens your relationship.

  1. Listen attentively and empathize

Communication works in two ways, talking and listening. Children have a lot to say! If you have created an environment for them to speak to you, you owe them the duty of listening. Take the time to listen attentively to your child’s expressed feelings, show them you understand, and offer advice or reassurance when needed. By listening and empathizing with them, you get to know more about your child and create a safe environment of trust. You also establish mutual respect, which is essential in any relationship. Therefore, set some time aside to listen to them. Turn off all distractions so that they can have your full attention to give them some much-needed quality time. Doing this makes your child feel loved, heard, safe and helps them develop practical communication skills.

  1. Be a part of playtime

One of the great things about having a child is you always have a reason to let your inner child out once in a while. Join in on playtime occasionally with your children. Playing is a significant aspect of a child’s development as it fosters creativity, develops language skills, and even social skills. Therefore, encourage them by playing a variety of games with them. You can play dress-up games with them or be creative and create your own educational yet fun games. You can also have a game night on occasion to play family board games. Outdoor games, such as Cornhole or Catch, are also a great way to bond with your children and keep them fit and healthy. Common Mistakes Made When Writing a Will

Writing a will should, by all means, be a simple thing. You want to make sure that your assets are being left to your loved ones and that your final wishes are being fulfilled. Usually, they are rather straightforward, but that doesn’t mean that they are entirely foolproof. Here, we’re going to look at some common issues that can lead to disputes or delays in carrying out your will. Image - CC0 License Not Having It Witnessed Correctly One of the most common mistakes when writing a will is not having it witnessed correctly. Wills generally require the signatures of at least two witnesses who are not beneficiaries or spouses of beneficiaries. If the will is not witnessed in accordance with legal requirements, it may be declared invalid, meaning your estate would be distributed according to intestacy laws, which may not align with your wishes. It’s important to follow the witnessing procedures exactly as outlined in your jurisdiction to ensure the will is legally enforceable. Chan...

Although Andy had an MBA in Banking and Finance and had even written a book entitled, “A Guide to Taking Control of Your Investments”, he found himself to be disenchanted with the financial industry and left to pursue “other work.”  The “other work” that Andrew pursued was with the Church and did not provide financial support for the family.  During this time Andy and his wife, Lissa, struggled to find other forms of income. They did what they could for themselves and their five children but often it was not enough. But there were...
