Last night the family had an awesome time with flubber. It was super easy to make and my daughter sat playing with it for a long time. :) I also found glue for 25 cents a bottle at the grocery store. With school starting I bet many of you stocked up on your glue so here is a great recipe to use some of it. :)
Here is how you make it:
1 1/3 cups warm water
3 teaspoons borax
Stir together well
1 1/2 cups warm water
2 cups glue (about 2 large bottles) (I used 4 4oz bottles)
food coloring (if wanted)
mix together well
Poor the borax and water over the glue mixture
(Get ready to get sticky! lol)
Let it sit about 20 seconds then carefully flip it over
it will be semi solid and very sticky, continue to play and work with it until all the liquid is gone.
The more you play with it the more "solid" it gets, let it sit on your hand and it turns more "liquid" VERY fun! Once it is made its not very messy and easy to clean off surfaces.
I stored mine in ziploc bags.
Making the flubber!
Wow, look at it all! We brought half of it to the YMCA mini care so other kids can play with it too.
Stick it in a cup and listen. (it will make fart noises and there will be lots of laughing)
Daddy could not resist the noisy fun!
Other tools we used while playing.
Try to blow a bubble in it... VERY hard but a fun challenge.
Before I did this we had just read about our 5 senses. We were able to use 4 of our senses during this activity. Touch, smell, see, and listen. :) (NO tasting allowed) Listening was fun as we mixed the ingredients together but also stuffing it in a cup, the smell was primarily glue, and the touching was the most exciting. :)
What a great sensory activity that will provide hours of fun! :)
