Book Review: Follow the Bouncing Ball

" Follow the Bouncing Ball"   by D.M Eason is a cute book for early learners.  The book jumps and counts all at the same time and includes some rhyming fun.  The illustrations are bright and the kids seem to enjoy counting along with the book.   This book is a great addition to any teacher's library and would be a fun one to include in a math lesson plan.  Thanks Peak City Publishing for sending me a book to review.  All opinions expressed are my own and I was not paid for this review.

Spring Weather is HERE!!

We can safely say SPRING is HERE!   Today we are going to hit 60's and this weekend we may hit 70's!  I am about to do a happy dance!!!    To actually bring in the nice weather the kids created a "Spring is Here" crown.  After we were done we had to go on our own parade!   These three kiddos sure had a great time on our walk and at the park.  Spring stay here we do not want any more cold spells and absolutely none of that white stuff.

Hand and finger print flowers

I am on a hunt to find as many flower crafts as possible since the weather forecast here in Wisconsin is calling for snow again.  :(  I REALLY WANT SPRING and so do my kids.

"Wonderfully Made" by Joyce Meyer

In Daddy's Shoes

Isn't he adorable as he tries to be just like his daddy.   I love seeing my kids modeling what they see from us.  It's always a good reminder for us as parents to be extra cautious of what we say, act, or do when our children are in our presence.   So let this cute picture remind you too that your actions are speaking very loud to your children.  What are you teaching them? Do they see you reading your Bible?   Did they see you scream at that other drive? (Guilty there)  Do they see you hugging and loving on your spouse? (in a good way)  Are they hearing love and words of affirmation coming out or hurt?  I often hear that children have lost the art of respect so parents are you showing respect to the people around you and teaching it to your children?   When your child acts out before you start the punishment ask yourself if you yourself have modeled that same behavior they are showing you!   ...

Flip Along Fun: Mix Up to Match Up...The Right Answer! Review and Giveaway

I remember being in Junior High and reading chapter books that would allow you to pick and choose your ending.  It would say turn to page xx for this, or page xx for that.  It was very amusing to me as a teen.  Anyone else remember those?  Do they still have them?? Take that similar concept but adapt it to children and you get "FLIP ALONG FUN"!  Flip Along Fun is very engaging for little kids.  You get to flip the pages finding the right matches.  Their is reading, rhyming, matching, sequencing, colors, and math all involved in this fun book.  Watch this video to see how it works: COOL!!  RIGHT?!? So what did my son and daughter think?  First my daughter and I sat down and I showed her how it works and she caught on right away.  She would match up the pictures and ask me to read it.  Then we discussed the math involved and the rhyming words on each page.  I think she loved the bear character the most!  I am not s...

The Journey of the Noble Gnarble Review and **Giveaway**

THE JOURNEY OF THE NOBLE GNARBLE One of my favorite things to do  with my kids is reading wonderful and creative children's books.  As you open this story the colors pop out and the sea creatures seem to be jumping out at you, it's beautiful. The book is also a hardcover book with a protection sleeve.  The author, Daniel Errico, was so creative in his naming of his sea creatures.  It makes it fun to read with fun rhyming action along with the occasional tongue tying moment that all children love.   My husband actually took out his guitar and sang through the book and my daughter loved it so much that she kept asking to hear it again.   I think this story is similar to a Tomas the engine- "I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN" positive thinking story.  My   daughter seems so excited as we read through the story which makes me believe she was inspired!  This story would make a perfect gift for any girl or boy so get your entries in and GO...

She loves "Pinkalicious"

My daughter got this book for her birthday from her aunt and she loves it!  Along with the book my sister bought her a set of 3 card games that are "Pinkalicious" themed but your typical Go Fish, Old Maid, and Slap Jack.  We have been playing a game almost daily and she can't get enough of it.   Tonight I found they had a website:  http://www.thinkpinkalicious.com/ .  There are several fun games, a way to order more books in the series, lesson ideas, Pinkalicious birthday or party ideas.  I think I will have an excited little girl tomorrow when I show her some of the games.  :)  I think I will use this as a good incentive!  :)

Seeking forgiveness at 2 am!

So who was seeking forgiveness at 2 am well who other then my Lil Selah!  We had a late night and she was very cranky.  She was throwing a fit for no reason and would not brush her teeth so I put her straight in bed without her usually bed time routine of teeth, bible story, and prayer.  We just hit the limit where she could not get anything completed without huge waterworks!  I really was not frustrated I just knew it was past her bedtime and she only cried for another 5 minutes or even less once she was in bed. Well at 2 am I heard her come into my bedroom and I had a bit of confusion but she came to my side of the bed and said "mom, I'm sorry for the attitude" and had her toothbrush with toothpaste on it all ready.  It was so adorable.  Unfortunately she thought that since we brushed her teeth at 2 am that we would read a story but I had to explain that it was too late but I forgave her and was thankful for her apology.  She started to cry again b...

Transitioning a 3 year old to baby brother...

"I'm a Big Sister Now" by Joanna cole and "Arthurs baby" by Marc Brown have been read several times to my daughter lately.  We are trying to get her prepared for her baby brother to arrive.   I am sure there are several good children's books out there to read to her but these are the only 2 that we have.  I think we might head to the library to check some more out too.   Any suggestions?  I would also like to read an adult book myself... anyone know of any good ones?  Selah had her sibling class on Saturday and she seemed to enjoy it.  I am still trying to figure out our plan for transitioning.  Here is our plan right now: 1. Selah and daddy will go pick out a gift for mommy and baby before heading to the hospital and mommy will have a gift for Selah from her brother when she gets there.  I am thinking a dvd so she can watch it right in the hospital room.   2. print out a picture of Selah that says "I'm big sister Selah" and pla...

Mommy Moment: Embarrassing Moments

Theme of the Week Embarrassing Moments Have you ever been in an embarrassing situation with your child? Maybe in Target and your child decides to test his lung strength out? Hmmm... What has my darling Selah done that was so embarrassing??  I cant think of many actions that may have taken place but my daughter is a talker and can say some of the cutest and embarrassing things.  I think one time she was naughty and pooped in the bath tub and then later that day told someone at church "i am naughty cause I poopied in the bath.  LOL!  More embarrassing for her then me!  I will ponder more ideas cause I am sure there is something she did that embarrassed me but struggling to remember what it is. Thought of one.  I am 29 weeks pregnant and I am short so I look huge!  Well we were out shopping and she all of a sudden lifted my shirt to talk to her brother.  I was embarrassed because she whipped my shirt very high that I think I could have...
