Sidewalk Chalk- Stain Glass Look

A little painters tape and chalk and you can create a masterpiece!    We eventual broke the chalk up in baggies and added water and then used a paintbrush to make it go faster.

Hot Rock Crayon Painting

Be safe with this one!  My kids have been around a camp fire so much so they understand safety.  They are also 12 and 9 so they are older!   We put some rocks in the fire and heated them up for about 10 minutes.   Carefully we removed them from the fire and used crayons to decorate them.   They were melting very quickly and since crayons are wax they should last awhile!

Water + Dandelions = Loads of Fun

All you need: Dandelions Bucket of Water Have the kids collect dandelions the bigger the better!   Then take the head of the dandelion off.  Then just like string cheese peel layers of the stem and place them in the bucket of water.   Enjoy watching them curl up!   This kept my kids busy for at least and hour! That is saying a lot because they are 12 and 9!

Cracking Geodes

Any other mom out there looking for ideas on helping entertain their kids while they are out of school.    This Covid-19 I keep hearing, "I am bored!"   So this package that arrived in the mail sure made them happy... even if it was short lived!   It didn't take much effort or much time to break these geodes.  A couple hits and boom they were cracked open!

Liquid Chalk spray! Chalk Idea #7

Last week we tried out the fizzing sidewalk chalk- click here to read that review. This week it is liquid chalk spray.  They are a bit similar but yet different.  Here is how to make it: Supplies: 1 tsp. washable tempura paint 1 cup of hot water 1/2 cup of cornstarch squirt of dishwashing liquid 1 squirt bottle- I found them at the dollar store 1.  Add cornstarch to one cup of hot water whisking to mix so that there are no clumps. 2.  Add one teaspoon of washable tempura paint and a quirt of dishwashing liquid.  Mix well. 3.  Pour it into your squirt bottles and shake well. 4.  Go have fun!!!   This kept my daughters attention much longer the the fizzy chalk last week.  I also think this was easier to work with and just more fun in general.  I love seeing the chalk wet but then to see it dry.  I think it dried darker so it was fun to see the changes.  :)  Ready, Set, Go!  Have some fun! She is my little model....

Activities to do with the kiddos...

If you are like me you are ready for the warm air to come and the snow to disappear so we can head to the park, zoo, waterpark, pool!!! Since winter seems to want to hang on I thought I would make a list of ideas that would help us mothers who need to get the kids doing something! 1. Play-doh or clay!  I love letting my daughter use her imagination but now that she is getting a bit older it is time to get more creative and have her making shapes or using a tool to write letters. 2. Finger paint!  If you child is still in the stage of putting things in their mouth make pudding or frosting and let them have a ball.  If your child is a bit older let them mix colors to see new colors made.  Again for the preschool and school aged you can have them practice letters  and shapes. 3.  Water Color painting!  For those that are just not ready for the messy clean up of finger painting. 4. Shaving Cream fun!  My 3 year old loves using shaving cream....
