Big Dog

It was a nice surprise to go to the mall and see lots of dogs there.  They were having a service dog awareness day at the mall and had several types of dogs that did lots of special tasks.   My daughter loved the size of this Newfoundland dog!  :) Look at her head size!  :)  We found out that this dog was a water rescue dog, what a cool job!   Anyone else amazed at how animals can help us in so many different areas of life from rescue situations to comfort to socialization!   Thanks dogs for being man's true best friend!  :)

Paw's for Gracie

Yesterday we went to a benefit for a friends daughter who has autism.  The fundraiser/benefit was for her to get a service dog.  They were able to raise some money but still have a little bit more work left before "Congo" their dog can come home after his "schooling."   Find them on facebook to hear more about her story and how you can help bring Congo home! Selah, my giraffe, had fun getting her face painted!  The hubby needed to use Titus's burp rag as his personal bib since he was about to attempt to eat spaghetti in a white shirt.    t

Autism and Service Dogs-Help Gracie

I have a dear friend with a 2.5 year old dignosed with Autism.  Well technically  Gracie was diagnosed with PDD-NOS and a Sensory Processing disorder at 20 months. She is now 2 ½. Her parents noticed something different about Grace at 14 months. She just wasn’t responding like other children. Her tantrums were way beyond what was normal for a child of her age. She stopped talking, and seemed to be unable to cope with anything that didn’t happen just the way she wanted it to. She had certain repetitive behaviors that she just couldn’t seem to stop such as opening and closing our cabinet doors and spinning in circles. It was not uncommon for her to scream for hours, throw herself off of  her highchair, or to bang her head on the floor or walls repeatedly. Currently Gracies family is fun...
