Showing posts with the label play

Annie Production

This was a great mommy daughter date to start our winter break!  We got to eat a nice meal and enjoy a play! Selah loves the movie Annie so seeing it live on stage was very special for her.   I enjoyed every second of it with her.   Everyone in the show did a phenomal job.  The singing was wonderful and the acting great.  I have to admit I miss theater, in high school I did drama class and the all school play. It was hard work but I loved it.  I think my daughter may have an interest in doing a show.

Vroom Vroom Vroom: Car Fun

Fun Car Tunnel!  One long tube and a handful of cars made this little boy stay occupied for a long time.  There were lots of giggles, car races, and chasing the cars during this play.   It excites me when I can take something I was going to throw away and create a new way to play with it.  I mean what 2 year old would not want to have a huge tunnel for their cars?  One way to change it up and create some education for this activity is to put the tunnel at different heights to see the different speeds the cars will travel.   My son also tried to put cars on top of the tunnel rather then in the tunnel to watch them crash and fall.  Since this we have colored all over the tube and now it is one colorful bridge!

Playing Boats

It amazes me how different playing with my daughter and my son truly are.  I have a very girly girl and I have my tough boy!  It is absolutely eye opening comparing how each play and rethinking about my daughter when she was the age of my son.  It also makes me more aware of being a better teacher, they have completely different learning styles and being aware now is very beneficial.   One thing I have mentioned is he is not a fan of the bath unless I make it fun!  You can find lots of bath ideas here on my blog.  Bath time is not just for getting clean, there is lots of fun and learning that can take place! One thing I bought for him from one of my swap groups is some boats.  We have two small boats for the bath tub and my son loves using them in his bath or even out of the bath.  He pushes them and sinks them and tries to park them in the boat warehouse when he is done with his bath.  At almost 2 years old he has ...

.Ball and Kids Kitchen Pot Fun

Who knew we would spend about 45 minutes playing with this yellow ball and kids cooking pot.  My little guy has a pretty well known obsession with all balls!  He see's one and he is after it.  I actually had to leave Target one day because he was having a melt down because of a ball...sigh!   In our hallway we simply played several throw and catch games.  We used the pot to bounce the ball and throw the ball.  We bounced the ball off the wall and off each others tummies, and he laid on the ball for some fun rolling and balancing too!  You can believe we will be doing this activity again and probably soon!  He has several other balls that I'm sure he will want to try these games with.  :)  You can see the pure fun and joy on his face in the picture below.  :)   Today, I encourage you to find a ball and find some new ways to play with it.
