Hi everyone!! Some of you know that I have been searching for a teaching job all summer long. I had a total of 8 interviews and I can proudly say that at the very last minute I was hired! I am very excited!
Since we knew our situation was going to be a bit different once we moved my family decided it was time for me to pursue going back to teaching. I had mixed feelings about going back to full time teaching. So what does one do when they have no idea what they should do... well prayer and trusting God was the answer.
All summer long I met with a lady 2 mornings a week at 6 am to pray. We prayed for many things but one thing we always prayed about was a job and direction for myself.
I had told God that he had till August 1st to line a job up or I would call the state to get my kids on the state health care because we had no insurance since moving.
August 1st came and on that day I got a call from a principle at a school about 30 minutes from my house. She described the classroom and asked to interview me. I had my interview this last Monday, another interview with Human Resources on Tuesday and Signed the papers accepting the job on Tuesday. Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday was new teacher orientation.
The interview process was the longest I have ever experienced! It started with twenty four questions followed by a tour of the school then ten more questions! Then the interview team collaborated for about thirty minutes while I sat back wondering about how I did. After they came back and said they have another set of questions that they record answers to!!! WOAH- crazy so then they asked me 80 questions and recorded my answers!!! It was absolutely crazy how many questions this school asked compared to my other interviews. I left confident that they were going to hire me. I got a call that night from the HR guy and had another interview with him the next morning. I sat in his office for a couple hours where he again asked about another 30 questions and then offered me the job. I guess it's a great process to ensure they are getting top quality teachers but it made for a long couple days for me.
My mind is fried and I am thrilled and scared all at the same time. We have three more days to set our room up and kids come to school on Thursday. I have so much to do but it will get done and I will not freak out! :) I am a co-teacher so we have a lot more planning and communicating to figure out how we are dividing the work load. It's great to have a team but at the same time it takes longer to get the year started with figuring out all the logistics of the classroom.
