Beating the Heat with Ice Cube Painting

I LOVE LOVE LOVE being a mom!  I love that my daughter is at a age where she wants to do arts n crafts and is a little sponge learning and trying new things.

With the heat of the week I wanted another activity that would help keep us cool.  Ice cube painting was a great idea for 90 degree days with lots of humidity.

Not only was this fun but very easy to make.  All I did was put water in my ice cube tray and then added food coloring and then put in the freezer.  SUPER FUN AND EXTREMELY EASY!

Selah's face she makes when she is concentrating.

Her first drawing on paper.

This is an old dish towel that I did not use anymore.

You could set the ice cube in one spot and let it melt for a little bit and then move it.  It created a very neat tye-dye look.  :)  I LOVED IT!  Selah had so much fun moving the ice cubes around.  :)

Her name kinda disappeared but this looks so cool!  I love love love it!  :)

We want to do this again!  :)

Love the tie dyed look!

If you added fabric dye to the water you really would produce a beautiful piece of fabric which could make a gorgeous skirt!

we actually have this planned for this week! Nice to see your lil girl had so much fun with it! Did her hands get very painted? That is my only concern! :)

Would love for you to link up to the Sunday Showcase - our weekly child centered weekly party - http://momto2poshlildivas.blogspot.com/2011/07/sunday-showcase-kid-friendly-linky.html

Nope her hands were not stained. After we were done we washed with soap and water and they were good, only near the nail could you see a little color.

What a fantastic idea. Do you have to fix the color? Just wondering when you wash it would the colors come off?

Sheau- I tried soaking it in salt water and a lot of the color was lost. It was odd all the green was lost but some of the other colors stayed. :( I am going to try it again with some fabric color like the stuff you would use for tye dye. Unless someone has another idea on keeping the color in?
