Learning Resources Review and GIVEAWAY!

Thank-you Learning Resources for sending me the "All Ready for Kindergarten" readiness kit and the "Picnic Party" early math game to review.   All opinions expressed are 100% mine and I was not paid for this review.   Learning Resources will also allow one lucky reader to win one of their new kits choosing from the preschool, kindergarten, or first grade levels.

My son will be starting preschool in the fall but I also wanted to really work on the kindergarten skills all year so I asked to review the Kindergarten level.       Right away we opened the package and he started working on his alphabet letters and the string to lace them.   Sadly we were bummed because our package did not have the letter "v" but had two "t's."  I will be letting them know and I am sure they will make it right!  They do have a 365 day guarantee.   We also did not get the die/number cube in the kit but I will also let them know.  After doing the letter lacing we used the shapes and made the fun pictures.  My four year old loved creating the pictures but his little hands pushed the pieces a few times and he
became frustrated when the picture was not aligned perfectly.  (Again he is 4 not 5 so I expected that) Overall the kit had many great ideas to enhance the skills to make sure your child is ready for Kindergarten.  The kit is going to keep us busy all summer and into the next year.   I like the huge guide for parents to help walk them through but as a teacher I have already come up with several other ideas to use the items to help him get ready for Kindergarten.

Product Description
Prepare children for kindergarten with this specially designed kit! Make learning fun while targeting essential kindergarten skills including addition, word families, handwriting, color identification, and shape recognition. Featuring the popular “In the Garden” classroom theme, this comprehensive kit includes an assortment of colorful manipulatives and other hands-on tools (the same ones used by teachers), a write-and-wipe Activity Book for children, and a 32-page Guide created just for parents. Perfect for the summer or an at-home connection. All components conveniently store in a sturdy storage box measuring 10”L x 3”W x 12”H.

The next item that came was the "Picnic Party" a math game that was very simple to play.

Product Description
Start marching! Beat your fellow ants to the picnic basket while comparing and counting up numbers in two delicious levels of play. Scrumptious shortcuts, including a banana peel, watermelon wedge, and corn cob, make your journey through the garden faster and more satisfying. The first player to reach the picnic basket wins! A super-fun way for kids to build key skills targeted in our All Ready for Kindergarten Readiness Kit. Includes 4 ant game markers and 48 cards. Game board measures 16” x 16”.

My son with two of his friends had fun learning this game.   The game is very simple as the kids each flip over a card and they have to determine who has the greatest number.   I also enjoyed working on number identification with them.   I could see the game being adapted as it got easier such as making them add two numbers together or finding the least number.
My son won this game so he is eager to play it again!

I have enjoyed both the kit and game so much that I just might need to buy another one to bring to school!  :) (Remember I am a special education teacher)

If you have a little one going to preschool, kindergarten, or first grade then enter this giveaway to win!   Winners will be able to chose between the three options.  Please use the easy rafflecopter form below to enter!

Knot Genie Review and Giveaway

If you have a little girl and have not heard of the Knot Genie then you need to watch the following video:   "The Knot Genie™ and Teeny Genie™ Detangling Brushes were created for every mom that has endured the foot stomping and screaming matches that come with brushing their child's hair. With the Knot Genie, even the curliest, most knotted up hair practically slips through the unique bristle configuration – gently and painlessly. Try the Knot Genie on your kids (or on yourself) – you'll be amazed by the ease of brushing, as well as how it virtually stops breakage and split ends. You've wished for hair brushing standoffs to end. Wish granted." My Review:  Thanks to the Knot Genie for sending me the product to conduct my review.  I was not paid for this review and all opinions expressed are 100% mine.  I know I have grown so tired of my daughter coming to tears every morning when we did her hair. I was becoming to think she was the most

Dry Idea: Deodorant Review and Giveaway

I know most of you know I was at kids camp last week and I think I mentioned the humidity and heat that we had that week!  I was daring as I only brought my new Dry Idea  deodorant  that I had never used prior.  I had no idea if it was going to keep me from smelling like B.O or if I was going to have sweaty pits. So how did the Dry Idea hold up to the hot and humid days at kids camp???  Arms raised high during worship in the morning and in the evening!  :)  I was dry and I did not stink!  :) WOOT WOOT!  I had the unscented brand and I usually do prefer a pretty scent but it worked and they do have scents which include powder fresh and cotton dry that I might try in the future.  :) The Dry Idea Roll-On is 24 hour protection, fast drying MicroCotton Formula, hypo allergenic, and contains Vitamin E.  :) Don't like roll on's??  They do offer Clear Gel and an Invisible Solid.  :) Dry Idea provided a free sample of their Advanced Dry roll-On so I could review them.  However,
