A Bouquet of Encouragement

Today, I got the sweetest surprise at work...flowers!
Beautiful sunflowers, radiant orange roses, and soft touches of purple blooms that made my whole day brighter. They came all the way from Florida, sent by two of the kindest, most faithful encouragers — Jerry and Linda.

I can’t even describe how perfectly timed this gift was. Sometimes, when the days feel heavy and the healing long, God sends reminders through the hands (and hearts) of others. These flowers were one of those reminders — a colorful whisper from the Lord saying, “I see you. I know what you need today.”

It made me want to hop on a plane and go get a real hug from them, but the flowers will have to do as I am not getting on a plane any time soon.  Jerry and Linda have always been like parents to me and grandparents to my kids. Time and distance have never changed that.
Their love, prayers, and encouragement have carried me through more seasons than they even know.

The Word says in Hebrews 10:24–25Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds… encouraging one another — and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

That’s exactly what these two do — they spur others on, with words, with actions, with love that feels like home.

And in Proverbs 16:24, we’re reminded: Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

The card had a simple yet powerful statement "you're highly favored and blessed"  BOOM- Exactly the reminder I needed!

Their encouragement, even from miles away, felt like that sweet to my soul and healing in the middle of a hard week.

The colors of the bouquet even seemed to preach their own message
🌻 Sunflowers: a symbol of joy and looking toward the light.
🌹 Roses: a reminder of love and beauty that endures.
💜 Purple: a touch of grace and royalty — because we’re children of the King.  I am ROYAL!

And as that old song says,
“Make new friends, but keep the old; one is silver and the other’s gold.”
I sure got the gold ones. I am pretty sure I sang that in elementary school and yet it was brought to my mind today with these flowers.

Thank You, Jesus, for knowing exactly what my heart needed — and for surrounding me with people who reflect Your love so beautifully.

Romans 12:10 says, Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.

That’s what Jerry and Linda do, and I’m so thankful to call them family not just in friendship, but in Christ. Again, thank you!  Lord, I ask you would bless them in return!

Common Mistakes Made When Writing a Will

Writing a will should, by all means, be a simple thing. You want to make sure that your assets are being left to your loved ones and that your final wishes are being fulfilled. Usually, they are rather straightforward, but that doesn’t mean that they are entirely foolproof. Here, we’re going to look at some common issues that can lead to disputes or delays in carrying out your will. Image - CC0 License Not Having It Witnessed Correctly One of the most common mistakes when writing a will is not having it witnessed correctly. Wills generally require the signatures of at least two witnesses who are not beneficiaries or spouses of beneficiaries. If the will is not witnessed in accordance with legal requirements, it may be declared invalid, meaning your estate would be distributed according to intestacy laws, which may not align with your wishes. It’s important to follow the witnessing procedures exactly as outlined in your jurisdiction to ensure the will is legally enforceable. Chan...
