Stepping into Victory—Together

Since my daughter missed cross country practice for All State, we headed to the track together so she could get her workout in. As I watched her stretch and warm up, I realized—why not take this opportunity to stretch myself too? After all, physical therapy starts soon, and I could use a little practice.

So I grabbed my crutches and started walking the track. One lap… then another. The cool air filled my lungs, and I felt thankful for the movement. Then, something stirred inside me—courage. I decided to take a few steps without the crutches. It wasn’t pretty, and it certainly wasn’t fast, but it was progress. It was freedom.

That moment reminded me that healing doesn’t always come in leaps—it often comes in steady, faithful steps. Each step, no matter how small, was a declaration: God, You’re still strengthening me.

My daughter and I may be training for two very different races right now—hers on the track, mine in physical therapy—but both require endurance, faith, and focus. She’s training to run her best at state, and I’m preparing to walk with confidence again. Both of us have to push past fear, trust our preparation, and rely on the strength that doesn’t come from ourselves.

“Let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.” — Hebrews 12:1–2

I took a few pictures of how far I went that day—not because it was far, but because it was further than yesterday. That’s a victory worth celebrating. Just like my daughter’s training for her big race, my healing journey is marked by faith, consistency, and God’s grace carrying me forward.
There’s something so symbolic about being at the track together—both of us chasing strength, perseverance, and purpose. She’s running her race for a medal; I’m walking mine for a miracle. But both will give God glory.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:13

Prayer:
Lord, thank You for every small step that reminds me You are healing and restoring me. Help both my daughter and me to run our races well—with endurance, patience, and faith. May we give You glory with each stride, each breath, and each victory along the way. Strengthen our bodies, guard our minds, and fill our hearts with Your peace as we trust Your perfect timing in every part of our journey. Amen.

Common Mistakes Made When Writing a Will

Writing a will should, by all means, be a simple thing. You want to make sure that your assets are being left to your loved ones and that your final wishes are being fulfilled. Usually, they are rather straightforward, but that doesn’t mean that they are entirely foolproof. Here, we’re going to look at some common issues that can lead to disputes or delays in carrying out your will. Image - CC0 License Not Having It Witnessed Correctly One of the most common mistakes when writing a will is not having it witnessed correctly. Wills generally require the signatures of at least two witnesses who are not beneficiaries or spouses of beneficiaries. If the will is not witnessed in accordance with legal requirements, it may be declared invalid, meaning your estate would be distributed according to intestacy laws, which may not align with your wishes. It’s important to follow the witnessing procedures exactly as outlined in your jurisdiction to ensure the will is legally enforceable. Chan...
