The State Qualifier Race, Victory on Many Levels

Oh boy, what a day! This was the last time as a high school cross country runner that I’ll see my girl race on that tough, hilly course. What a mix of emotions — joy, pride, nostalgia, and awe.

Earlier this season, I was still being wheeled around in a wheelchair. But this time, victory! I was able to use my knee scooter and make it from spot to spot, cheering Selah and her teammates on. That freedom felt amazing, another reminder of how far God has brought me in my healing.

And the victories didn’t stop there. Selah and her team crushed the competition and are heading to State next week! 🙌 Selah met her individual goal of qualifying, and I could see her determination in every stride. She’s focused, grounded, and surrounded by such an incredible group of teammates.

As they prepare for this next big race, my heart is full of prayer:

“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.” — Isaiah 40:31

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” — Colossians 3:23

Prayer:
Lord, I lift up these girls to You, especially Selah. Thank You for the strength, talent, and perseverance You’ve placed in each of them. As they train for State, fill them with grit, peace, and focus. Keep them healthy and injury-free. Remove cramps, side aches, and fatigue, and let them feel Your presence with every breath and every step.

Give them restful, restoring sleep the night before the race, and let them wake up refreshed and ready to run with joy. May they sense Your Holy Spirit running beside them, pushing them forward in Your strength and not their own.

Lord, for the seniors who are praying about their next steps, open the right doors. Lead them to the colleges and opportunities that align with Your purpose. Let Your favor go before them.

For Selah, I pray Your direction, wisdom, and peace. You know the path before her, and I trust that it is good. Help her to stay close to You, to run her race — in life and on the course — for Your glory.

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3
