I have enjoyed Matthew West’s music for years, so when I heard about his book Don’t Stop Praying, I figured I would enjoy reading it too and I absolutely have.
One of the things I appreciated most was how Matthew began the book by walking readers through different parts of the Lord’s Prayer in separate chapters. It was such a meaningful and powerful way to break down prayer into something personal, approachable, and real. Instead of prayer feeling scripted or intimidating, the book reminds readers that prayer is simply a conversation with God.
There were several moments throughout the book that deeply connected with my own heart and current season of life. One quote especially stood out to me:
“God, I can’t handle this alone and I’m not going to pretend that I can.”
I actually shared that quote on my social media because it perfectly captured feelings I have wrestled with myself. Sometimes the simplest prayers are the most honest ones.
Another thing I loved about this book is how easy it is to read and reflect on. Each chapter is fairly short, making it perfect for a devotional-style reading experience. At the end of the chapters, there are thoughtful reflection questions along with space to write your own thoughts and prayers. I really appreciated that interactive element because it encourages readers to be real and raw before God instead of just reading words on a page and moving on.
Matthew combines biblical truth, personal stories, humor, and vulnerability in a way that feels genuine and encouraging. You can tell this book was written from a place of personal growth and honest faith.
Overall, I have truly enjoyed every page I’ve read so far. Don’t Stop Praying is a beautiful reminder that prayer matters, God listens, and we were never meant to carry life alone. Whether you are struggling, growing, waiting, or simply wanting to deepen your prayer life, this book is an encouraging companion for the journey.
