VBS Review

Today was the last day of VBS for my daughter.  This was a different experience for me and my daughter as we went to a different church for VBS.  Our church does not do a VBS and I had heard on the radio about this free one so I thought lets give it a try.   I was happy to find out the lessons were revolving around the fruit of the spirit which is what her children's church is also teaching this summer.  :)  A double dip in love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self contro l- YES PLEASE!! They had a fun day where they served us lunch and then we went outside for pony rides, cotton candy, train rides, and a petting zoo.   As you see in the pictures my daughter had a fun time.  :)

Lobster Night: I was a Newbie!

Call me a Lobster Virgin- wait nope not anymore!  I finally ate my first lobster!  I think the experience was more fun then the taste... I think I am more of a steak girl!   Anyways, I was at a leadership party for church and it was a lobster night.  We got our lobster fresh and overnight delivered from Maine!  I had to pick my lobster up and I got to put him in the boiling hot water.  Ok, I know that is morbid and sad but still it was part of the experience.   After the lobster came out of its hot bath the fun part began with trying to crack it open and getting the good meat.  It was hard but thankfully I was with a lot of people who knew what they were doing so they had fun showing me how to do it right!  I drenched the lobster in some butter and took a bite and I took several more bites but I concluded that I am a steak girl over lobster.  I am glad I got to experience it but it still tasted fishy to me, maybe with a little lemon ...

Thankful Thursday

It has been awhile since I have posted a Thankful Thursday.  I love to show gratitude and praise to my father God.  Here are the things I am praising Him for tonight: 1. The fun I have had with my kids this week.  Concerts, shows, farmers market, bowling!  :)   2. My puppy has got the potty training down!  3. Fun evening with church family!  I tried lobster for the first time...look for my post tomorrow!  :)  4. Health- AMEN! 5. Summer time- I LOVE it even with the HOT temps! 6. This blog- It has opened man doors and I feel so blessed WHAT ARE YOU PRAISING and THANKING Him for today?

Cupcake Baking with Papa

There is only so many things you can squeeze into a grandparent visit, but we made the most of each day!  My daughter had such a blast making cupcakes with her grandpa.  The first day he was here she picked out several of her "Pinkalicous" stories for him to read and by the end of reading and talking they made big plans to create their own cupcake masterpieces!   LOOK how beautiful they are, and they tasty yummy too!

Monkey Boy!

He is near 16 months and he is fast, a climber, has a sense of humor already, and full of love (at least towards his mamma!)   It is so fun to compare my sweet and sensitive daughter to my rough and tumble boy!  :)   He wanted to keep hanging on these monkey bars last week!  :)   I guess I can't blame him when my hubby and I were doing the monkey bars!  :)

Glow Stick Noodle Bowling

With the extreme heat lately I have tried to find some fun things to do inside to keep cool.  I had seen on the Parenting website an article showcasing night bowling outside using glow sticks so I took that idea and changed it a little bit.   1. We went to the basement where is was cool and dark instead of waiting for night time.   2. We used a toy bowling ball at first but then my son grabbed the pool noodle and had a ton of fun knocking over the "pins" with that instead of a ball.  3. I added food coloring to the water bottles and then used 3 glow sticks in each bottle. The pictures did not turn out as well but it was a lot of fun!  :) We also brushed up on our colors, counting, and taking turns during this activity.
