Four ways to look fabulous while touring the tropics

Sunshine is not always about a gentle warmth, picnics, and butterflies. It is also about blazing heat, severe tanning, and sunburns, especially in the Tropics. Tropical countries have their own distinct beauty with picturesque landscapes and rich cultures. Touring there, especially in the summers, is not so dreamlike when reality hits your face in the form of the blazing sun. Nonetheless, when you are on a tour, you will not always want to sit in the shade when a sun basked scenery awaits you. Here are a few tips you can consider when you venture into the tropical sun: Wear scarves: These are classy options and an instant glam up to most attires. You can loosely drape one around your head and shoulders, or tie it like a headband for that cool bohemian look, or make it into a head wrap or a shoulder shrug. Why Casseroles Are the Perfect Way to Teach Kids to Cook

Whether you are raising girls, boys or both, the one thing you will want to teach your kids is how to cook. For as long as anyone can remember, it seemed as though little girls were taught the ‘womanly arts’ of cooking and cleaning while little boys were sent off with dad to fix the car or mow the lawn. Times have changed and there are very good reasons why you will want all your children to learn to cook. Casseroles are the perfect place to start and if you are at a loss for what goes into easy casseroles, try some recipes on the Pocket Change Gourmet website where you can learn how to cook great foods at very low costs. The Changing Roles of Gender Bias According to Pew Research Center, more than 2 million dads are staying at home with the kids while moms go off to work. They attribute this, in part, to the Great Recession through which many fathers lost their jobs due to downsizing within major corporations and the countless bankruptcies putting the common worker on the une...

How to Preserve Family Travel Memories

Travel is a great way of broadening the mind, and the exposure to other cultures can enrich our own lives when we return home. All too often, holidays seem to end much too soon and we are left with nothing but a few souvenirs and some photographs to remind us of times gone by. By planning in advance and taking some time out during your trip, you can not only ensure the memories you have of your trip last longer but also help to embed the experiences more deeply in your mind. This is particularly important if you go traveling with children and want to ensure they can look back and remember as much as possible. Take a video Whether you use a smartphone or a dedicated video camera, taking moving images is a wonderful way of preserving family memories while you are on holiday. The huge advantage of video is that it enables you to capture not just the sights but also the sounds around you. For the ultimate memento, make sure that, periodically throughout your trip, everyone takes ...

Ugly Christmas Sweater 5K

So I'm a bit sore... not as bad as I could be!   I ran a 5K on Saturday and today is Monday.  I am taking my Plexus Ease capsules and they seem to be helping.  My daughter and I did the race but of course, she beat me!   She is such a great runner. She is so serious about her running that she didn't want to wear an ugly Christmas sweater.  Oh well, I guess but it was totally fun seeing everyone's gear. I'm not sure who won that contest because everyone looked awesome or should I say ridiculous.

Want The Kids Off Their Gadgets? Get Them Creating!

It has always been the eternal struggle for parents to try and get their kid's attention. For the longest time it was them staring at the TV, then it was sitting on the computer. Now, technology is such a huge part of all of our lives that they are almost never away from a screen. Whether it's their phone, laptop, tablet, games console, or whatever else, it can be incredibly frustrating to watch them lazing around in front of screens all day long. Of course, this doesn't mean that screens and gadgets are necessarily a bad thing for kids, or for anyone, it's just that kids have a habit of getting pretty attached to their tech to the point where it starts to take over their lives. When that happens, it can have a pretty negative impact on their overall well being, affecting everything from their sleep patterns to their social skills. The question is then, how do you get them away from their gadgets? The answer is really quite simple: you help them get creative. One of t...

Adorable Puppy Calendar

How is it almost December?  How is it almost 2018? As a kid, I could always rely on my dad to get everyone a new calendar for Christmas.  I remember getting a Green Bay Packer one, a puppy one, and Bible verse one.  The calendars I got from my dad were pretty simple with the top portion a picture and the bottom portion the  calendar  part.  The calendar to your left is filled with so many puppies!!  There is a puppy picture for every day of the year!  HOW ADORABLE! Seriously if you have a big dog lover to shop for then I suggest you head over to  www.chewy.com  and pick up your puppy calendar... they have a cat one too!    So I gotta ask- What is your favorite type of dog?  I am a big fan of beagles and I really want an English Bulldog!
