Is it spring yet?

I know it's January and far from spring but I am just so excited for spring this year.  I am excited for of course warm temperatures but more importantly I am excited for our outside projects we want to do around the house. I know we are planning on putting a fence up in the back yard, making more garden boxes, and redoing the landscaping in the front of the house.  Each and every project is going to be fun and exciting.  I am very excited to have the back yard fenced up so we can let the dog out and run in the back.  I am also excited to have a bigger and better garden this year.  :)  I have a lot more research to do in preparation but I am thrilled for the new gardening challenge. The front of the house has to be redone because the dog chewed and ruined some of the plants.  Each project we will be doing will be budgeted and hopefully the hubby and I have the time to complete them.  :)  If we had more money and a bigger y...

Popcorn Art

I love to mix it up in our art time and add a whole new experience with some sensory fun.  Yesterday we sure had some fun popping popcorn but also shaking it in a bag with food coloring to dye it.  After we made several colors the kids made their art.   Here is what you will need: air popper white popcorn water food coloring zip-lock  bags construction paper glue To allow your young kids a full sensory experience let them help add the popcorn and watch it pop.  My lil man sure had fun watching the popcorn popping.  My popcorn popper does make a lot of noise so be cautious for any of those little sensitive ears.  My Tman was smiling and pointing and ready to dig into the fun, I am pretty sure he dug in and ate a few pieces of popcorn. After the popcorn is all popped you will need to take two cups of the popped popcorn and put it in the zip-lock back.  Then add two tablespoons of water and 5-7 drops of food color...

Sparklers for New Years

I think I just thought of a new tradition I want to do with my kids.  I never have done sparklers for New Years but this year I heard some big fireworks go off as I was sleeping so it got me thinking!  (Yes, I did not even make it to midnight)   So what was I thinking?  Beyond the obvious that I want to allow my children to use sparklers on New Years, there is a reason behind it.  The reason behind it is the SPARK, yes the spark.  Every New Years comes around and we all sit back and reflect on the previous year and make some  goals for the new year.  I think we can talk about the bright sparks and fire in the sparkler and then compare it to some Bible verses  such as we are the light, God is a lamp unto our feet.    New Living Translation- Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world--like a city on a hilltop  that cannot be hidden. New Living Translation - Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to guide ...

Winter Skin

Can I just say HALLELUJAH before anything else!? HALLELUJAH!! I just have to give you a praise report-- A HEALING REPORT.  When my daughter was born she was born with a strawberry mark on her lower back and one leg.  Her first winter she had a huge dry red patch, eczema, on her cheek and her birthmarks were also dry and itchy.  It was a frustrating ordeal that lasted about 3 years.  We removed wheat from her diet for awhile and she was tested for other allergies.  We had to use special fragrance free and mild soaps and lotions.  I always felt so bad for my daughter to have such a uncomfortable ailment.  I also felt like a big meanie when I yelled at her to stop itching her skin.   It is January and my daughter's skin seems moist not dry!  :)  No eczema creeping up  no itching skin anywhere.  :)  I remember the bill from the Dermatologist office it was frightening but even that bill God took care of for us!  :) ...

Guest Post: Top trends in web design for the coming year

Top trends in web design for the coming year The beginning of a new year prompts web designers everywhere to look toward future web design trends. It is apparent trends with regard to web design are here one year and have faded the next year. There are some trends who like to hang about like a re-occurring bad penny. That said, trends are essential in order that the web designer may make better in-roads for his or her clients, in promoting the visitor to stay on the site;  clicking  through to make a product purchase; or minimally, requesting more information on the product. Some trends are broad-based; however, other trends are designer-signature meaning the latter is tied to your own unique style. Following are futuristic trends for the start of the year 2013. 1) Layouts of your web design must show fluidity: Web designs which show a nice even flow are good choices for mobile devices. Web design, responsive to user needs, is a better customer match than those designs w...

My lil ball player

Basketball is one sport I played through my school years.  I was the point guard and I loved it.  This week my daughter started a basketball fundamentals class and I am excited that she loved it!!  She did a very good job with passing and not too bad with dribbling.  She did struggle with shooting but she is 5 and even though they lowered the hoops they were still too high.  I do expect her to improve over the next 7 weeks.  :)  We might have to sign her up for the next class!  :)  The last couple of years she has been able to try many different classes at the YMCA.  She has done swimming a few times, gymnastics several times, cooking class, craft class, and even music class.  She loves all the classes she has been in  so it can make it challenging since she wants to do them all every week.  Basketball is more affordable then gymnastics so I am really hoping to keep her in basketball for awhile.  I know she loves...
