Missing you 13 years...

Why is it that when I was younger I was too stubborn to dance the polka with you and tonight I look at this picture and say "I'm sorry mom, lets dance the night away."   Tonight as I was getting ready for our normal Bible story time I wanted to reflect and share a little bit about my mom with my kids.   13 years ago I was a scared 18 year old girl forced to say good bye to her dying mama.  I tried so hard to keep it simple for a 8 and 4 year old to understand tonight and yet I lost it and the tears came flooding.   In those tears I realized that even though my children have never met Grandma Bette they still have a hole in their heart.  It is safe to say that Selah and I shared some tears tonight which finally did end up in laughter and good snuggles.  You see I know that our days here on earth are numbered.  I know we all face our struggles and we all have the reality of death but friends don't be defeated in those thoughts.   If their is on...

Book Review: "Faith Builders Bible" and GIVEAWAY!!!

Bible Description: The Faith Builders Bible, NIrV uses the popularity of brick-building pieces to engage children with the Word of God. Includes 24 full-color pages of illustrations plus the complete New International Reader's Version (NIrV) of the Bible in a very readable font size. My Review: I was extremely excited for this Bible to arrive.   If you read about my daughters 8th birthday party last month then you know all about the Lego Party . This month we had our trunk or treat at church so I kept the Lego theme going and was so thrilled to showcase the "Faith Builders Bible" in my trunk design.   It was front and center in the trunk as you can see in the picture on the right.   I know kids have many different interests and creating a Bible that is already aligned with their interests is such an awesome thing!   This Bible is NIRV and includes several pictures that use Lego's to create the image... it's so cool!   I loved looking at a...

Book Review- "Thank you, Lord, For Everything"

Book Description: "Love surrounds you, beauty, too. Notice how God blesses you! Clap your hands, shout and sing: Thank you, Lord, for everything." A comfortable and relaxing rhyme tells the story of God’s great blessings in this padded cover board book. P.J. Lyons’ engaging text and Tim Warnes’ playful illustrations remind readers how much they have to be thankful for. My Review: It can be easy now a days to forget to be thankful for the things we have.   We can go through our days so speedy with our checklist in our head that we often times forget to be thankful and appreciate the beauty around us that God has given us.   I enjoyed this rhyming story that reminds all of us that we can be thankful for the big and small things in life.   The pictures are simple with animals for characters.   I think kids often times are drawn to books with animals as the main characters so this book will be grabbed by your younger kids.  With the cute rhymes...

Witches Walk and Trunk or Treat 2015

Everything is Awesome!!!  I am a little bit proud that I created these homemade/recycled costumes!  It did take more time then I anticipated but I had the kids helping to paint them.   We even took 2nd place in the group category!   WOOT We kept the Lego theme for our trunks for the trunk or treat portion!   I had so much fun with this one!

Mommy Daughter Date- High Tea at the Botanical Garden

We arrived at the beautiful botanical garden in Illinois on a nice sunny day.   We were dressed in our new pretty dresses and were excited about our "high tea" date.    We soon poured our tea and added some sugar cubes and waited for our friends.   We ate some little desserts and got a little goofy with the photo booth.   We also made some fun tissue paper flowers and then had to strike another pose for the camera.     After that we went and toured the greenhouse and outside area.   It was beautiful!!!   The many different plants and flowers were stunning.   Dear Selah, I hope you find this letter one day when you are older and remember the fun day we had.   The tea cups were white with gold and red in them, you didn't like your tea very much and you added 3 sugar cubes.  I will remember your adorable star dress you wore and your cute pigtails and of course your fashion glasses. ...
